CHARITY PARTNERS

MSF

MSF is the world’s leading independent organisation for medical humanitarian aid and every day more than 24,000 MSF field staff are providing assistance to people caught in crises around the world including in conflict zones, refugee camps and natural disaster areas – wherever the need is greatest – and we are immensely proud of our collaboration with this world-leading disaster relief charity.

LUPUS UK

Lupus is a disease of the immune system where the body’s defence mechanism begins to attack itself which can cause inflammation in the joints, muscles and other organs. Lupus mimics other diseases, i.e. multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis and ME. It can affect any part of the body and can cause many different symptoms. 90% of patients are female and usually of childbearing age.

LUPUS UK is the only national registered charity supporting people with systemic lupus and discoid lupus and assisting those approaching diagnosis. We have a membership and Regional Groups who arrange medical talks, publish local newsletters, set up social occasions and organise fundraising events. LUPUS UK also produces an informative national magazine with lupus articles, letters, reports and photographs, and operates a strong Grants Programme for research purposes and welfare.

LUPUS UK’s priorities are:

To help the lupus patient who may feel alone and isolated

To assist those in need as they seek diagnosis

To inform the public and the medical profession about Lupus UK

To improve national awareness about lupus and its impact

To maintain a network of Regional Groups and Contacts

To fund further research into the causes and towards a cure

To Fund Lupus Specialist Nurses

A NOTE FROM THE EVE APPEAL

The Eve Appeal is here for everyone who wants to better understand and look after their gynae health. We’re here to prevent the 5 gynae cancers (yep FIVE – womb, ovarian, cervical, vulval and vaginal). That means raising funds to do three essential things that no other charity is doing: raising awareness and running campaigns focussed on signs, symptoms and risk factors to STOP cancer before it starts; funding medical research in early diagnosis and new screening programmes and running a specialist nurse service Ask Eve.

Demand for Ask Eve rocketed during the pandemic, and there's been a huge increase in demand over the last few months with everything that is going on in health services. For many, the days between Christmas and New Year are a time to rest and recuperate but for Ask Eve, a service that you have helped to fund, it was one of the busiest times since we launched it in 2016.

The team are currently inundated with calls from people waiting for diagnostic tests and referrals or being told they aren't a priority, even though they have potential cancer symptoms that need to be checked. It can be an anxious time waiting for investigations and appointments, especially when you are worried your symptoms may be caused by something serious, like cancer.

Donations from the kits are invaluable - and so timely. We need to scale up online and telephone support and produce new resources for groups of people who find accessing healthcare challenging.

Your donations - £100,000 and counting – have helped bust the taboos, challenge the stigma and campaign for better education. The fact that donations from the kit are now specifically supporting Ask Eve also means something else that’s pretty brilliant – we can put core funds into supporting medical research.

At Ask Eve we are here to offer free, confidential information and advice if you are worried about signs, symptoms and risk factors. We are also here if you have questions about your diagnosis and treatment. We will listen, offer expert information, signpost you to trusted sources of support, and advise when you need to seek further help from your doctor or clinical team. No question is too trivial or taboo.

Follow @eveappeal on all social channels for information about signs, symptoms and risk factors. For free, confidential help: nurse@eveappeal.org.uk  or call 0808 802 0019. The NHS is an incredible service facing huge pressures. We have already begun to grow the Ask Eve service so that we can help more women and provide even better support, and the timing for your donations could not be more important.

A NOTE FROM CHOOSE LOVE

Choose Love does whatever it takes to provide refugees and displaced people with everything from lifesaving rescue boats to food and legal advice. Our work has reached over one million people and supported over 250 fast-acting community organisations across Europe, the Middle East and along the US-Mexico border. Everything we do is powered by a vision of a world that chooses love and justice every day, for everyone.

FARESHARE

FareShare is the UK’s biggest charity fighting hunger and food waste. FareShare takes good-to-eat surplus food from across the food industry, sort it in our regional warehouses across the UK, and pass it onto a network of nearly 9,500 charities and community groups. These include food banks and pantries, hostels, refuges, community centres, older people’s lunch clubs, school clubs and hospices. Two thirds of the organisations FareShare provides food to, support children and families. During the last financial year, 2021-22, FareShare redistributed the equivalent of nearly 130 million meals - that’s 4 meals every second.

THE BOWEL BABE FUND

We are donating £25,000 to The Bowel Babe Fund from our Hydrate & Glow and Balance & Go Kits. Founded by Dame Deborah James, The Bowelbabe Fund for Cancer Research UK raises money to fund clinical trials and research into personalised medicine for cancer patients and supporting campaigns to raise awareness of bowel cancer.

A NOTE FROM THE BEAUTY BACKED TRUST

The Beauty Backed fundraising initiative began in 2020 to support the independent businesses and entrepreneurs in the beauty industry who were directly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

After a successful launch, which saw £600,000 raised for the Hair and Beauty Charity, Beauty Backed has since evolved into a trust which aims to assist everyone and anyone who works, or who wants to work, in the beauty industry.

With beauty contributing £28 billion to the British economy each year, the Beauty Backed founder, Caroline Hirons, and trustees passionately believe this is a valuable industry which is too often ignored or overlooked.

The goal of the Beauty Backed Trust is to change this way of thinking and provide a means to support everyone in the beauty industry.

A NOTE FROM SHOW RACISM THE RED CARD

Show Racism the Red Card is a charity working across the UK for 25 years using the high profile of football to deliver high quality and effective anti-racism education.Show Racism the Red Card (SRtRC) was established in 1996 and has continued to grow, 2021 sees the 25th Anniversary of the organisation. We deliver programmes of direct anti-racism education with over 50,000 young people and approx 10,000 adults every year. We also produce educational resources used daily in schools throughout the UK.Independent external evaluations demonstrate the efficacy of SRtRC’s activities:'The most significant impact on young people is the sense of empowerment that it awakens.’&‘By fuelling young people’s passion to speak out against racism, SRtRC may be breaking the transmission of inter-generational racism.’This past year has reminded us all of the heart-breaking effects that racism can have, on an individual, a family, a community, a nation, and the wider world. Education gives us the opportunity to teach the next generation. To use the lessons that we have learned from the mistakes of the past...to improve their world. If that can be a world free from racism then there can be no more fitting tribute to the memory of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Christopher Alder, Stephen Lawrence, Anthony Walker and too many others ...
